Improved Composition Database |
|
We are proud to present to you the new and improved display of the MusMap Composition Database which we have been testing for the past few days. As you may have noticed when you now go to a composer profile the list of composition is now displayed in a different fashion than before. In addition to the title of the piece you can still see in which catagories the piece is placed (which gives a rough idea about the instrumentation of the piece) but more importantly you can see straight away if there is a sound example or a score uploaded with the piece.
As you can see in the picture (courtesy of Marcel Chyrzynski) there are now displayed symbols on the right of the entry if there is a sound file or a pdf file uploaded with that particular entry.
The play button playes the first uploaded sound example and the sign with the note symbols give you the option of downloading an attached pdf file. This can be done without having to open the detail view of the work. Note if there are more than one file uploaded, only the first one can be accessed from the list view. To see all attached files you can click on the title of the work to go to the detail view.
The final addition is that the list is now displayed on several pages (5 entries on each page) instead of in one long list. At the bottom of the picture you can see the page numbers and which page you are currently viewing.
With these enhancements it is much easier for musicians to get aquainted to the music of each composer and we therfore strongly encourage composers to upload sound examples of their work with the entries into the rapidly growing MusMap Composition Database.
