Courtesy of Aurora Charity Fund, MusMap will move from a trial project into a full blown network for classical music in 2009.
The trial version of MusMap.com has now been open for about 10
months. The first three months were used to showcase the concept among
performers and composers and inviting people to try the site out but
since then most of the work has been happening behind the scenes. We
want to thank those of you have actively supported us with valuable
feedback, suggestions and donations. At the same time we appologize for
the late replies to your requests and comment when the mail boxes have been very full.
Since
the summer of 2008 all efforts have gone into seeking funding to secure
the future of this test project and to develop dedicated online tools
which generic social networks don't offer classical musicians. We - and
apparently many of you - think classical and contemporary music need
that.
Finding funding for something like this isn't easy in the
middle of a global recession. Despite that Aurora Charity Fund believed
in what we are doing and have very generously sponsored the development of a new and
enhanced MusMap. Work has already started and the first results will be
presented in the first half of 2009. The team behind MusMap wishes to express their profound gratitude to the board of Aurora Charity Fund for their generosity and for believing in our aims of building stronger foundations for classical and contemporary music in a globalized world.
Finally we would like to encourage you to submit feature requests or suggestions for MusMap 2.0. We really want to hear from you so we can make the site as useful as possible for our users! Send us a mail through the contact form or post a comment in the forum discussion to this article.
