International Rostrum of Composers 2008

On June 13th the results of this year's Rostrum were announced in Dublin, Ireland. For over 50 years this has been a venue of promoting contemporary music through broadcasting and a professional exchange between radio producers. National radio networks of 29 countries from 4 continents were represented in this year's event.

The representatives listened to 51 works and gave them scores. The works were in 2 catagories, composers under 30 and a general catagory and each country can submit one entry in each catagory.

The winner in the general catagory was the japanese composer Misato Mochizuki (1969) for his work L'Heur Bleue (2007) for orchestra. In the composers under 30 catagory the winning piece was Mémoire du vent (2006) for orchestra by the young French composer Florent MOTSCH (1980).

Furthermore there were 9 pieces recommended for broadcasting from the general catagory and 2 pieces from the under 30 catagory. Among those 2 works was "all sounds to silence come" by one of the first composers to sign up on MusMap, Daniel Bjarnason. MusMap congratulates him and all the other composers who had works recommended for broadcasting at this year's Rostrum.
