Classical and contemporary music on the internet

Let's face it, making a living as a classical musician or composer is not easy today, and it's not likely to get easier anytime soon. But are classical musicians and composers doing everything they can to promote themselves and their work? Is it just a natural law that because the pop music industry has more money that there is less space for classical music, or can we do something to change this?
